Part 1: Preparation & Measuring Basics
- Required tool: Use a soft, flexible measuring tape calibrated in inches and centimeters.
- Dog's position: Have your dog stand naturally in a calm, relaxed posture.
- Tape tension: Keep the tape flat against the coat without pulling tightly or compressing the skin.
- Double-check: Take each measurement twice to reduce errors.
- Choose by measurements: Use the specific product's size chart rather than relying on breed or weight alone.
Part 2: Product-Specific Measurement Guides

1. Full-Coverage & Basket Muzzles
Use the illustration below to identify the measurement points required for your particular muzzle. Follow the corresponding product size chart when selecting a size.
2. Semi-Closed Mesh Muzzles
Mesh muzzle designs can have different fit requirements from basket muzzles. Refer to the illustration and the sizing instructions for your selected product.
3. Wide-Snout Muzzles — Bully & Mastiff Breeds
Broad-headed and wide-snout dogs may need a different muzzle shape. Follow the measurement points shown below and compare them with the size chart for the specific model.
4. Flat-Faced & Brachycephalic Muzzles
Flat-faced breeds have distinct facial proportions. Use the measurement method specified for the particular muzzle rather than applying a standard long-snout measurement method.
5. Toy Breed Muzzles
Small dogs need measurements suited to their individual proportions. Refer to the illustration and check that the selected product is designed for your dog's size and shape.
6. Regular Collars & Martingale Collars
Measure your dog's neck at the position specified by the product instructions. Compare the result with the collar's adjustable size range, and follow the product's fitting guidance before use.
7. Pinch & Prong Collars
Prong collar sizing and fitting differ from those of regular collars. Follow the product-specific measurement instructions and fitting guidance. Have a qualified professional help check the fit if you are unsure.
Part 3: Final Measurement Checklist
Before choosing a size, confirm the following:
- Use a flexible measuring tape with inch and centimeter markings.
- Measure your dog while calm and standing naturally.
- Repeat measurements to check for inconsistencies.
- For applicable long-snout muzzles, measure snout length from approximately 1/2 inch below the eyes, as specified by the relevant product guide.
- For applicable muzzles, measure snout circumference at the specified widest point and follow the product's instructions about mouth position.
- For flat-faced breeds, follow the specific head or facial measurement method provided for the product.
- Match the measurements against the product's own size chart rather than relying on breed or weight alone.
